“I pump up my vegan brain with 750mg of algae derived omega-3 EPA and DHA every day. I also carry a little bottle of ground flax seeds and nutritional yeast to power up the omega-3-fatty-acid ALA, B vitamins and protein in any meal that I think might need it. Rocking the fruit, veggies, beans, nuts and tofu smoothies of course. Four and a half decades of vegan and still loving it.” ~ Stele

Try Vegan Please
calls out a future love to me
try vegan please
for our particles share a destiny

so I power my bod with veggies, B12 and flax seeds today
so with a future love I may celebrate
with a thousand muscles that pulse and flex
and a thousand words that honor our fate

so I power my bod with fruits and agae based DHA EPA
so with a future love I may celebrate
with 10 trillion cells that dance and sing
and countless turns that make our fate

Try Vegan Please

try vegan please
the Earth shares our destiny

so I power my bod with tempeh, nuts, and nutritional yeast today
so with a future love I may celebrate
with a thousand muscles that pulse and flex
and a thousand words that honor our fate

so in the now, I say to my love
I heard your and Earth’s future words
that we again may meet and love
I must repeat what I heard

“I just could not stand the idea of eating meat – I really do think that it has made me calmer…. People’s general awareness is getting much better, even down to buying a pint of milk: the fact that the calves are actually killed so that the milk doesn’t go to them but to us cannot really be right, and if you have seen a cow in a state of extreme distress because it cannot understand why its calf isn’t by, it can make you think a lot” ~ Kate Bush [wikipedia.org…]

“I continue to be amazed by our bodies’ ability for self-repair. … Our bodies want to be healthy, if we would just let them. That’s what these new research articles are showing: Even after years of beating yourself up with a horrible diet, your body can reverse the damage, open back up the arteries—even reverse the progression of some cancers. Amazing! So it’s never too late to start exercising, never too late to stop smoking and never too late to start eating healthier.” ~ Dr Michael Greger

“I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realized that what was on my plate were living things, with feelings. And I just couldn’t disconnect myself from it any longer.” ~ Ellen DeGeneres

“We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. Vegan notes

Chow down on beans if you like em! They have loads of important nutrients and protein.

Check out our Smarty Beans post with some bean eating tips. Beans have been proven to be smart for numerous nutritional and preventative reasons, not just their protein. Smarty Beans talks about killing the fart factor in beans by adding baking soda to the beans while cooking, after cooking or when soaking the beans once (or twice).

Some studies have indicated that protein deficiency is probably rare or even non-existent. Check out these studies as cited by Dr. Greger MD , nutritionist and vegan. However, those who want to feel mega confident that they are getting enough protein in their diet once they go vegan [or vegan-ish], eating beans is extra protein insurance.

Read the Increased Lifespan From Beans by Dr. Greger for more good bean news. NutritionFacts.org/video/Increased-Lifespan-From-Beans/ It cites research that indicates, “The intake of legumes—beans, chickpeas, split peas, and lentils—may be the single most important dietary predictor of a long lifespan…”

To reduce cellular inflammation, you need more EPA than DHA. It is rapidly becoming acknowledged that omega-3 fatty acids are good for the brain. However, there are two eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). … The ultimate goal of using omega-3 fatty acids is the reduction of cellular inflammation. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/in-the-zone/201204/what-are-the-real-differences-between-epa-and-dha

Via: Ask Pablo: What Is The Carbon Footprint Of Tofu?
Tiffany Plate, a writer from Boulder, Colorado found that farm inputs result in 0.005 and 0.011 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per pound of organic and non-organic tofu respectively. Tiffany went on to discover that transportation from the field to the soybean processing facility resulting in a further 0.015 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions energy and fuel use at the processing came to 0.002 pounds.
What Is The Impact Of Making Tofu?
By far the greatest source of emissions in the supply chain of tofu comes from the tofu factory itself. Tiffany estimates that fuel and electricity use at the tofu factory results in 0.55 pounds and that transportation to her local store adds another 0.012 pounds of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. The total greenhouse gas emissions from making and distributing a pound of tofu is between 0.81 and 0.86 pounds, depending on a variety of factors such as the use of irrigation water, the distance of transportation and organic/non-organic. Compare this to the conclusion of a Scientific American article that claims that the average pound of factory-farmed beef creates almost 15 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions!
